ALLERGEN GUIDANCE
FOR FOOD BUSINESS

Give Allergy Sufferers Peace of Mind
For individuals with food allergies, the stakes are incredibly high. Even the smallest mistake, a mislabelled ingredient, cross‑contamination, or unclear allergen information, can trigger severe, potentially life‑threatening reactions. Symptoms such as breathing difficulties, throat swelling, hives, or anaphylaxis can occur within minutes and require urgent medical attention.
Accurate labelling, robust allergen controls, and careful handling are not optional; they are essential safeguards that protect the health and well-being of your customers. Clear, consistent allergen management also builds trust and demonstrates that your business takes customer safety seriously.
At LV Food Safety Consultant, we help you create a safe, compliant, and allergy‑aware operation by ensuring:
• Your allergen information and food product labels are consistent, accurate, and fully verifiable
• Your food production processes comply with legal allergen regulations and industry best practice
Compliance With Natasha’s Law
Natasha’s Law, introduced in October 2021, was created to protect allergy sufferers and give them confidence in the food they buy. The legislation requires food businesses to provide full ingredient lists and clear allergen labelling on all pre‑packed for direct sale (PPDS) foods prepared and packaged on the same premises where they are sold.
This law places a significant responsibility on food businesses — but with the right systems in place, compliance becomes straightforward and manageable.
LV Food Safety Consultant can help you align your business with Natasha’s Law by developing allergen management systems that are:
• Fully compliant with current legislation
• Tailored to your business size, menu, and operational setup
• Practical, easy for staff to follow, and designed to minimise risk
With the right guidance, you can protect your customers, strengthen your reputation, and operate with complete confidence.
